CEProud is a League of Women Voters of Connecticut initiative to raise awareness for the state’s Citizens’ Election Program. The voluntary program, administered by the nonpartisan State Elections Enforcement Commission, promotes clean elections and limits the role of big money in state politics by granting public financing to candidates running for statewide offices and the General Assembly.

THE CEP SITUATION
The Citizens’ Election Program was eliminated
from the Connecticut state budget in 2017.
The governor did not sign that budget.
The Connecticut Legislature prepared a second budget
and included the CEP. The Governor signed this budget
making the Citizens’ Election Program safe until 6/30/2019.
Those who wanted to get rid of Connecticut’s
publicly-funded state election program
will try to kill it again.
Connecticut voters must keep telling legislators who represent them in Hartford
that we want clean/transparent/public campaign financing for
campaigns to our legislature and elective state offices.
Tell us how best to raise awareness in your town about the
Citizens’ Election Program. We need your advice.
